Alexandre Gama is truly the prince of Brazilian Advertising. He has the rare distinction of being the first person from Brazil to get the opportunity of leading a global agencies in the capacity of the Global Chief Creative Officer of the UK based network of agencies, BBH. His main claim to fame, of course, is being the CEO and CCO of Neogama, which is one of Brazil’s leading advertising agencies.
After obtaining a qualification in Advertising and Communications Alexandre Gama embarked upon his epic advertising career with a job as a copywriter with O & M in 1982. He made a career move to DM 9 as Copywriter & Creative Director in 1990. While over there he went on to become the most rewarded and feted Brazilian copywriter of his times. Other agencies that he worked at included Almap BBDO, and Y & R (Young & Rubicam), where he won a number of laurels and further consolidated his reputation as an industry professional.
He founded Neogama in 1999, and the rest they say is history. In the year 2008 Gama became the first person from South America to hold his very own class at the celebrated Cannes Festival. He was nominated as a member of the board of Brazilian Association of Advertising Agencies and was tasked with the responsibility of promoting and supporting best practices in the Brazilian advertising and communications.
Apart from being an ace advertising and communications man, Gama has been a part of the Brazilian music scene as well.
